Writer and performer
Hi! My name is Neena Maya Sapkota. I’m a Nepali-American high-schooler and I’m making my mark through words and song.
I self-published my first book of poetry when I was 12 years old, and went on to write for IndyKids, a national kids newspaper. I’ve recently been writing short stories and just completed my first two-act play that I am directing at my high school this Fall (2026).
I’m equally passionate about singing and performing. From modern pop to classical Hindustani, and from musical theatre to opera, I feel at home on the stage! I’ve participated in the Maryland All State Choir for two years in a row, and I’ve played lead roles in multiple high school musicals including Nala in The Lion King Junior, Gretchen Weiners in Mean Girls, and Sister Mary Robert in Sister Act.
Check out the links below for a glimpse into my work and music.
